The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has continued to escalate over the past decades. Year after year, thousands of Israelis and Palestinians have witnessed and experienced repeated killing, maiming, destruction, and trauma. This tragic reality has intensified mutual hostility and hatred, while sadly diminishing the prospects for peace and reconciliation.
To break this vicious cycle, women from both sides of the conflict have planned a ground-breaking action designed to actually bring our respective leaders together in a face-to-face meeting, with the encouragement and participation of Israeli, Palestinian and international women. Inspired by women from other conflict areas around the world (especially the initiative of the women of Liberia), the Israeli movement, Women Wage Peace, and the Palestinian movement, Women of the Sun, are honored to invite you to join us at this summit.
The initiative is designed for the express purpose of relaunching negotiations while ensuring the critical role of women from both sides of the conflict. Our jointly formulated Mothers’ Call demonstrates that there is no stronger voice than that of women and mothers to express the existential need for peace, security, and justice.
We will hold this summit in a massive tent to be erected in an area accessible to all participants. The attending leaders of both sides will be invited to the negotiating table at the center of the tent. Women representatives from both sides of the conflict, together with influential leaders from around the world will be seated with them. Thousands of Palestinian, Israeli, and international women will be present at the site, encouraging these leaders to resume negotiations as a first, crucial step to end the decades-old violence.
At the conclusion of the summit, we will announce the formation of a designated Women’s Task Force to advance an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.
