Dr. Rehab Tallal Abed Elhalim

As of today we are facing a difficult and painful reality.
Especially today, in spite of the assault on the dignity and sense of belonging of me and all the minorities in the country, the national law has been, regrettably, approved by majority vote???
It is my understanding and belief that belonging is a basic need for a human being. When one feels belonging, a sense of responsibility and commitment follow.
Belonging = (equals) Responsibility and Commitment
When the sense of belonging is damaged, so are the senses of responsibility and commitment.
I ask myself what is the contribution of the national law??? What does it promote???
Today, at the Mothers’ Tent closure ceremony, I allow myself and all of us to dream in the spirit of Martin Luther King’s dream.
I have a dream… that a morning will come, full of light, in which the signing of a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine will be announced.
I have a dream…at the end of the war mothers will feel peace and will sleep in tranquility
I have a dream…a day will come and instead of throwing stones and flying fire balloons, balloons of joy and love and white doves will be flown.
I have a dream…the children of the Gaza surrounding villages and the children of Gaza will play and celebrate together instead of feeling hate and fear.
I have a dream…Palestinian children will play with children’s toys and games instead of inventing warfare and revenge tools.
I have a dream… that the state of Israel, with its scientific richness and might, will lead the Middle East to peace, prosperity and richness while keeping humanitarian and democratic values, dignity for all humans, and the ability to dream.
Let us pray to God to help in making this dream come true
From this place I turn to Mrs. Netanyahu, as a woman and a mother, to support and push forward the peace process.
I turn to the leaders in Palestine and other Arab countries to support and lead to peace.
We turn to you Mr. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, as a strong charismatic and powerful leader who makes tough and critical decisions in front of the entire world please make the right courageous and critical decision for both our people and for the entire region. A decision that will make you remembered for many generations to come as the historic peace maker.
