During the last two weeks we held two events of our “Israeli Salad”. This is a project of our Diversity Team which enables diverse parts of the Israeli population to meet, open new channels of communication and to inspire hope for a new and shared future.
In Wadi Atir, in the Negev, women from the young women’s chapter of WWP met with Bedouin women who work in the catering services. During the time we spent together, we learned how to write our names in Hebrew and Arabic, we created squares for the Peace Quilt and talked. Openness and cooperation deepened the knowledge and the closeness.
In Beer Sheva members of WWP from all over the South met with women from WIZO. We sang “The Song of Peace” with Neta Peleg and the WWP choir; Yaela Peterberg talked to us about women who changed reality; we made squares for the Peace Quilt and learned together “The Prayer of the Mothers”. The women from WIZO said that they would be happy to work together with WWP in the future.
We believe that personal and direct contact among women from diverse backgrounds can enable an honest discourse.
