Women Wage Peace

Flowers’ march on Jerusalem day

We also marched through the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem, surrounded by the heightened emotions of young people, Jews and Arabs. We met youth who lost any hope for change; we met tourists who were interested in the role we have taken upon ourselves; we met children without any kind of trust or empathy and incapable of acknowledging the presence of others.
We spread the idea of peace, with smiles and flowers.
Together with members of Tag Meir, we wandered around the alleys, we made eye contact with the young people in the Flag Parade, we exchanged greetings with some of them and even managed to hold a short conversation with a few of them. We gave them flowers and said “Shalom”.
Storekeepers rushed to close their stores. We stopped to promise them, and ourselves, that we will continue to dream, to dare, to notice and to wage peace.
