George and Amal Clooney chose to honor us and the Palestinian movement, Women of the Sun, with the prestigious The Albie Award this year.
The award is given to courageous fighters for justice around the world and is intended to send a message of peace, liberty, and human rights.
From the words of Dr. Yael Braudo- Bahat, co-director of Women Wage Peace, who represented the movement upon accepting the award:
“As a woman, as a mother, as a daughter of a post-traumatic father who took his own life at the age of 40, and as a representative of tens of thousands of Israeli women who long for peace, I know that peace is the only way. And standing here tonight with my Palestinian sister, I know—we all know—that this is possible. We will not stop and we will not rest until we heal our wounded region. This is our responsibility.
We are very excited and draw energy from the international recognition of our work.”
