Women Wage Peace called on the government of Israel to choose life and promote a political agreement. Nineteen women, affiliated with left-wing, right-wing and center political parties, young and old, Israeli and Palestinian, represented the movement on the central stage and showed that women must play an active role in solving the political conflict. Dr. Marie-Lyne Smadja , one of the movement leaders, said that women refuse to undergo another hundred years of war, that will lead to another hundred years of isolation. She called upon Israeli and Palestinian leaders to renew negotiation efforts and reach an agreement that is non-violent, respecting of and acceptable to both sides.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"\u05e0\u05e9\u05d9\u05dd \u05e2\u05d5\u05e9\u05d5\u05ea \u05e9\u05dc\u05d5\u05dd \u05d1\u05e2\u05e6\u05e8\u05ea \u05e8\u05d1\u05d9\u05df 2014\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pR99PxRKf8Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Five &#8220;Women Wage Peace&#8221; activists spoke at the rally:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_127\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-127\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img class=\"wp-image-127 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/d79ed799d79bd79c-d7a9d79ed799d7a81.jpg\" alt=\"Michal Shamir\" width=\"260\" height=\"150\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-127\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michal Shamir<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>I am Michal Shamir<\/strong>, a founding member and activist in Women Wage Peace. I stand here tonight \u2013 because I am from a bereaved family and I am the mother of a son who is about to be drafted to the IDF. I stand here tonight, because in the last ten years I&#8217;ve taught at Sapir College in Sderot, I have not been able to complete a single class, without being interrupted by a &#8220;Red Alert&#8221; siren.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I stand here tonight, together with thousands of other women, because we demand to be full partners in a process that will create a different reality for us and for our children.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We deserve a future! And as women, we can work together to make a change.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_128\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-128\" style=\"width: 171px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-128\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/d7a4d799d795d7a0d7941.png?w=171\" alt=\"Fiona Choppe\" width=\"171\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-128\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fiona Choppe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>I am Fiona Choppe<\/strong>, twenty-five years old, and a new immigrant from Switzerland. I chose to live in Israel because there&#8217;s great energy here that I haven&#8217;t found anywhere else. In Israel, I started my own catering company. But the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is hurting young people who want to make a decent living. We, young people who chose to live in Israel, want a future that can let us make a decent living and have a peaceful relationship with our neighbors.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_129\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-129\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img class=\"size-medium wp-image-129\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/d790d79ed790d79c-d7a8d799d797d79f-d790d791d795-d7a8d79ed793d790d79f1.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Amal Reichan\" width=\"300\" height=\"244\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-129\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amal Reichan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>I am Amal Reichan<\/strong>, a teacher of Arabic language, and a mother of four from Yaffo. Women are the base of the world&#8217;s existence. They can and should affect the political reality in which they live. I believe in the power of Israeli and Palestinian women to make peace, so that we can live together side by side with mutual respect. I believe with all my heart in the power of women to make a social change, and promote tolerance amongst all people. I joined Women Wage Peace because I want to ensure a better future for myself and for young men and women in Israel, and especially in the south.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_131\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-131\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-131\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/11\/d79ed7a8d799d79cd799d79f-d7a1d79ed793d792d794-21.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Marie Lynn Smadja\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-131\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marie Lynn Smadja<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>My name is<\/strong> <strong>Marie-Lyne Smadja<\/strong>, I\u2019m a veteran immigrant from France.<br \/>\nMy parents were born in Tunisia.<br \/>\nI am a co-founder of the new movement \u201c<strong>Women Wage Peace.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I believe that our country deserves a future, I believe my two children and future grandchildren (God willing), as well as all young men and women, deserve a future where security is sustainable and peace is long-term.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">19 years after Rabin\u2019s assassination, we stand on this stage, 19 women from the movement \u201cWomen Wage Peace\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">19 women representing thousands of women all across the country, from the political center, left and right; Jewish women and Arab women, young and old.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This is a historic moment!<br \/>\nThis the moment of Israeli women!<br \/>\nThis is the moment where we bring back hope to this square and the entire country!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Israeli government signed a UN resolution stating that women should be integrated into all policy-making and conflict resolution processes.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">What has the Israeli government done with this promise?<br \/>\nToday we are here demanding our involvement in the resolution of the conflict!<br \/>\nWe demand courageous leadership.
