Not even one moment of calm was taken advantage of in order to search for solutions to peace and long term alternatives.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>We all pay the price for this failure.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">We,<strong> Women Wage Peace<\/strong>, demand that the government act immediately to calm things down. In this demand we represent the silent majority which aspires to a better future and not to another round of warfare.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">A week before the crisis erupted, on April 29<sup>th,<\/sup> , we held the \u2018<strong>First Civil Cabinet<\/strong>\u201d at Kibbutz Nahal Oz.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">This gathering\u00a0 concluded\u00a0 a series of meetings and tours in the Western Negev and the Gaza border, which we held during the past months.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9353\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/wwp-in-the-south2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/wwp-in-the-south2.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/wwp-in-the-south2-350x263.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/wwp-in-the-south2-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">35 men and women from the region participated in the Cabinet. They came from Nahal Oz, Sufa, Sa\u2019ad, Sde Avraham, Kerem Shalom, Gevim, Nir Oz, Nir Yitzhak, Nirim, Sderot, Alumim\u2026.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>In addition, two Knesset members, Mossi Raz and Nira Shpak participated. Knesset member Shpak , a resident of the area, informed us that she is trying to set up a special Caucus for the Gaza border region. Other participants included members of various organizations such as Voice of Mothers, Other Voice, the Lighthouse, the Future of the Western Negev.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9350\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-mk.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-mk.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-mk-350x263.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-mk-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The title of the Cabinet: <strong>From Words to Actions<\/strong>\u00a0. We met in order to discover what is shared among the diverse voices from the region, and what is shared with Women Wage Peace.<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet began with an \u201caquarium\u201d of personal stories which included loss of a child, loss of a grandchild, raising a child with PTSD and everyday life with PTSD. Afterwards, former Knesset member Meli Polishuk spoke about tools with which citizens can influence decision makers; she emphasized the importance of the direct communication between the Knesset and the residents of the region.<\/p>\n<p>This was followed by discussion groups: Peace and Security, Economy, Education and Community, Let our Voice be Heard.\u00a0 After summaries were presented in the plenum, areas of cooperation between the residents and WWP were defined.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook and an Instagram page \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/LifeontheBorder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Life on the Gaza Border \u2013 Things you Must Know<\/strong><\/a>\u201d were created as a result of the cabinet.<\/p>\n<p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9352\" src=\"https:\/\/womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-1-350x263.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/cabinet-darom-1-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>What now?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team which worked on the project and the Cabinet will meet to define their next steps. In addition, we will follow Knesset member Shpak\u2019s plans to establish the Caucus .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenwagepeace.org.il\/#facebook\"><br \/>\n<\/a>The Project which encouraged tours and meetings in the South, made it clear that a <strong>political agreement is urgent.<\/strong> We will continue to demand that the decision makers leave no stone unturned to find an honorable agreement with our neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven years have gone by since Operation Protective Edge.
