While both were established in 2014\u20132015\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">and strive for the resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, each has\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">distinct characteristics. <b>Women Wage Peace<\/b> is a women\u2019s movement\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">focused on reaching a peace agreement with the Palestinians, while\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><b>Standing Together<\/b> is a mixed movement with a holistic mandate of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">reaching peace and transforming Israel into a more egalitarian\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">society. The paper draws on qualitative methodologies \u2013 in-depth<\/span><\/p><p>interviews with Jewish and Arab-Palestinian activists, ethnographic\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">work, and analysis of documents produced by the movements. It\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">suggests that both movements consciously work on their activists\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">emotions, but that Standing Together combines the positive emotion\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">of hope with the negative emotion of anger (\u2018moral battery\u2019), while<\/span><\/p><p><b>Women Wage Peace<\/b> combines the positive emotion of hope with the\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">positive emotions of love and joy. The paper also argues that <b>Women\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><b>Wage Peace\u2019s<\/b> combination of positive-only emotions is part of an\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">absolute politics of positivity that contrasts with <b>Standing Together<\/b>\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">more limited politics of positivity.
